Our Town
Quirindi is a vibrant and progressive country town with a population of around 3,500. It’s located approximately 4 hours north of Sydney via the New England Highway, 75 km north of the "Horse Capital" Scone and 65 km south of the "Country Music Capital" Tamworth. The name Quirindi comes from the Indigenous Kamilaroi People and means "Nest in the Hills", and today is the service centre for the fertile Liverpool Plains to the west and the rolling grazing country to the east. Quirindi has an excellent compliment of services. The Liverpool Plains Shire was formed in 2004 including the former Quirindi Shire Council, and portions of the former Murrurundi and Parry Shire Councils. Servicing an area of about 5121 square kilometers. The Liverpool Plains is a substantial broadacre farming area providing the economic base for the town of Quirindi and the Shire generally. The Shire also encompasses the townships & villages of Willow Tree, Werris Creek, Wallabadah, Currabubula, Caroona, Spring Ridge, Pine Ridge, Premer & Bundella.
